It's official!

I'm going to AFRICA! Zimbabwe to be specific. Just outside the capital, Harare, to be exact. I just, this morning, purchased my plane ticket. I'm am SO excited....and a little terrified. I'll be there for 3 weeks, which on one hand seems like a blink of an eye when one is traveling half way around the world to fulfill a dream, but on the other hand, I will be missing my sweet boys so much while I am gone. I'm sure I will be more than ready to return home to them. I'm so stoked to explore more of the Shona culture (music and dance, YES!) and lend a hand to an amazing sustainable community reaching out to teach the Zimbabwean community how to live sustainably and take care of themselves. This is a dream come true for me and the way it has come together amazes me. I can't believe it's actually happening.

Yours Truly

I am a contemplative mama of two boys, who see my best and my worst. They love me no matter. What a blessing! I am a single mother, a Peace Studies major with a Writing minor at Naropa University, a former preschool teacher, food co-op founder, activist, and highly reflective spiritual being-completely enchanted with God, yet disenchanted with much of religion. Africa is written on my heart and in my destiny. I can't wait to go back. I look for beauty and inspiration in simple everyday miracles.

My first born

E was born when I was 20 and thus far has taught me as much about life as I have taught him. He is a gentle boy that has a heart as big as his mama's. He is naturally musical, and has an amazing imagination. He attends Waldorf school where he is nurtured in the areas of music, art, spirituality, drama, handwork, and academics. He is so great to his little brother (well, mostly) and thrives on quality time with his family and friends. A sweeter, more caring boy I could not ask for. He is pretty darling and I couldn't be any more in love with my first born.

My young one

My 6 year old J is a fireball. He is sensitive and sweet, but also determined and willful. He adores his brother almost as much as his mama and papa. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to hold out for it, no doubt a trait that will serve him in life even if it sometimes drives his mama crazy. He is very affectionate and absolutely adores dress up and make believe. He gets deep stuff and even recently told his grandma, "you can't see God, but you can feel God" as he laid his hand over his heart. Truly a boy after my own heart.
